Representatives of Global Union for Innovation, Development and Education participated in a public discussion on the topic of “10 years since the signing of the treaty of accession of Bulgaria and Romania to EU”, held on 24.04.2015
The date 25 April 2005 will always remain in the Bulgarian history. On this very day, exactly ten years ago, on a special ceremony in Luxembourg, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha signed the treaty of accession of Bulgaria to EU. The treaty has been ratified by all EU members and enters into force on 1 January 2007. Bulgaria is accepted by the same terms, requirements and criteria as the ”A10” countries, joining the EU in 2004 ( Estonia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic) and is a part (along with Romania) of the fifth enlargement of the Union.
Together with Dr. Andrey Kovatchev, member of European Parliament Presidency, we have made a short overview over the harsh road we have walked so far. A key aspect was the discussion of the future of Bulgaria in the boundaries of the Union. A special attention was focused on the place of young people in the process of European integration.
