Representatives of “Global Union for Innovation, Development and Education” took part in the discussion “Where are the Western Balkans headed to?”, organized by Foundation “Conrad Adenauer”.
The countries on the Balkan District must re-institutionalize their foreign political relations so they can head to unified and positive economic development. This was stated by the professor from the university in Ljubljana, Zlatko Shabich. The professor is one of the leading experts in foreign political problems on the district and manages a researching group for Comparing Foreign Politics in Western Balkans.
According to him, the desire of the countries in the region to manage an independent foreign policy, leads them to losing their “close” countries, as common languages, history and to use nationalistic rhetoric, standing in the way of homogenization of the Balkans.
“For joy of the district, there are businessmen who understand that potential richness and gather from it and by doing so, they go ahead of the politicians”, Shabich says.
