Representatives of “Global Union for Innovation, Development and Education” took part in a public discussion with a topic : ” What is happening in Russia and how is the EU supposed to react”. It was organised by European Council on Foreign Relations and “Portal Culture”.
Till now, most of the European citizens believed that their security order, created after the Cold War, has an universal application and can be an example for the rest of the world. Europe mistakenly accepted the failure of Russia to stop the formation of that same order as an agreement with it, letting that the integration of Russia in the worldwide economy will make her a part of the Status Quo, and failed to realise that even though a small part of the Russians desire the return of soviet communism, the rest feel nostalgic for their status as a superpower. What is currently happening inside Russia itself is hard to be explained to the average European and often this, which reaches to Europe are just the extremely brutal actions like the murder of the oppositionist Boris Nemzov in the centre of Moscow. Maria Lipman, ex – chief editor of “Pro etContra” magazine, recreates a quite more detail picture in her analysis for the contemporary inside situation in Russia of Vladimir Putin. She analyses the reasons for the Russian hatred towards the west, actions which are taken against anyone criticizing the government.
